Recording Services

Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to my recording services page. As a lifelong musician myself, my goal is to always capture the absolute best recordings possible for the artists I work with. As a boutique recording business, and one-man army operation, each project I take on has my full attention until its completion. My mobile studio proudly endorses sE Electronics microphones. These award winning microphones capture performances beautifully! Below, you can find a breakdown of my recording services.

Video recording is also available upon request for an additional fee.

Studio Recording

As both a recording engineer and producer, I have the flexibility of helping clients book and record their project at a local studio that fits their needs and budget. I have a small list of studios that we can book that I have great relationships with.

Check out this recording I made of Rain Sunshine: A Quarantine Blues by Jordan Wirshba performed by Adelante Winds. This recording was made at The Woodshed Studios located in San Antonio, TX.

Location Recording/ Audition Recording

Location recordings are a great option to capture performances in a space you may already be comfortable with. Such as your school’s recital hall, church, or even in your own home.

This option also works well for students or young professionals taking auditions for schools or summer festivals. Having done several auditions myself and also serving on panels, I help clients craft a compelling audition experience in their video submissions.

Some things that factor into a quote are travel distance, amount of instruments being recorded, number of pieces, length, etc.

Check out this classical recording I made of cellist, Juliana Bray. This recording was made at a chapel located in San Antonio, TX.

Post - Mixing & Mastering

A raw recording made from a studio or location session is not quite ready to be released to the public yet. The final steps after a successful recording session include the mixing and mastering of a recording. All the recordings I post have been properly mixed and mastered.

What is mixing?

To put it simply, after all the physical recording is done using the mics and instruments, mixing is taking all the recorded tracks from the session and making both individual and grouped adjustments to them to create a cohesive polished finished recording ready to be mastered. Examples of these adjustments can include panning, track balance, eq, compression, and automation. Depending on what needs fixing or adjusting.

What is mastering?

Mastering means taking a mixed recording and making necessary adjustments to ensure that the recording will sound correct when played on a variety of listening devices ranging from tiny iPhone speakers, earbuds, a car stereo, to a large arena sound system. The recording needs to be properly calibrated in various areas from volume and loudness, to eq and compression in order to sound good on any given audio source. This is a crucial but often overlooked step for younger artist.

Having an experienced engineer and producer on your team will help make your recording day pre and post production as smooth as possible.
